Have you always wondered how to check your car’s fluids? Do you worry about what you’d do if a stray nail flattened your tire? Are you tired of feeling helpless every time your “Check Engine” light comes on?
Vehicle maintenance can feel intimidating and overwhelming – if you don’t know anything about it. Ladies, Start Your Engines classes help you get acquainted with your car BEFORE you have a problem! Taught by Lori Johnson, an automotive guru with over 30 years of professional expertise and more than 20 years of teaching experience, LSYE classes are geared toward helping women become more comfortable with their cars in a fun, interactive environment.
This class teaches women:
- How to change a tire
- How to check fluids and add if necessary
- The basic understanding of how an engine works
- The basic knowledge of the braking system (rotors, pads, drums, shoes, calipers)
- Battery maintenance
- How to check belts
- Fuses
- How to replace wiper blades

Price: Normally $35/person, thanks to our sponsor, the Oley Valley Community Education Foundation, the price to attend will only be $15/person!
Ages: For ages 15 and up.
We must have a minimum of 15 participants in order to have this program, but space is limited to a maximum of 20 participants so everyone has the opportunity to get their hands on the vehicle and learn by doing.. This is a great way to introduce car care to teens who are learning to drive, and for older adults who would like to empower themselves by learning how to perform fundamental automotive maintenance – or at least learning some technical jargon that allows you to discuss your automotive needs with your mechanic.
