Book Review: “The Judge’s List” by John Grisham

Review written by Miriam Stone, Director of the Oley Valley Community Library

The Wall Street Journal calls this thrilling new novel by Grisham “a world-class shocker worth staying up all night to finish.”

The Judge’s List begs the question: Can a sitting judge be a serial killer?

The New York Times best seller calls it “one of the best crime reads of the year….Bristling with high-tech detail and shivering with suspense…. ).”

The legal thriller follows Lacy Stoltz, a character from a previous book called The Whistler, as she works on a new case. Lacy works for the Florida Board of Judicial Conduct (BJC), and investigates corrupt judges. The Judge’s List takes place three years after the events of The Whistler, and Lacy is getting bored with her
job. Things get a little more interesting when she meets Jeri, a woman who is convinced that there is a judge in Lacy’s jurisdiction that has murdered several people. Now all they need is some proof…

This is the second book in Grisham’s Whistler series but it works as a stand-alone story and you don’t need to read the first book to enjoy this book.

No one does suspense like John Grisham. This story is beautifully executed. When you read fiction and you are scared that the killer is right behind you, you know you have a great book.
